What you will do

• Own end-to-end design, delivery, and production quality of data platform capabilities.
• Build and maintain open source infrastructure for airgap and cloud-native environments.
• Develop capability discovery and provisioning systems to connect applications to governed data without hardcoded config.
• Implement AI-assisted search across mission data using proven RAG patterns.
• Write comprehensive tests and technical documentation including ADRs and runbooks.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to relevant open source communities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Rust, with comfort using Python for tooling.
• Strong Kubernetes expertise (operators, CRDs, controllers, network policies).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, consistency models, and failure modes.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Strong communication skills for writing design specifications and runbooks.

Nice to have

• Experience with CNCF data projects (Argo Workflows, Strimzi, Apache Iceberg, Trino).
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL (pgvector), S3-compatible storage, and Kafka.
• Experience with AI-adjacent infrastructure like vector databases and embedding pipelines.
• Active security clearance (Secret or higher).
• Experience working with DoD software factories or Platform One.
