What you will do

• Own and evolve backend architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Drive system design decisions across data pipelines, services, and infrastructure.
• Act as a hands-on IC on core backend systems and data-intensive applications, delivering high-impact outcomes.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and hands-on guidance, improving code quality and delivery discipline.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate complex problem spaces into scalable technical solutions.
• Build scaling foundations (systems/processes) and contribute to hiring and team shaping as the company grows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive backend systems in high-growth environments.
• Strong expertise in system architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
• Proven track record as a high-impact IC delivering meaningful outcomes in fast-paced teams.
• Experience operating at the intersection of product and engineering with strong prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise technical standards across a team.
• Willingness to work from Zurich HQ on a regular hybrid basis and fluent English (written and spoken).
