Salary: $95,000 – $160,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Contribute to the architecture and design of the Backstage-based IDP, focusing on scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Design and implement golden paths, software templates, and opinionated defaults to reduce developer cognitive load.
• Build integrations across the engineering toolchain, including SCM, CI/CD, ticketing, and cloud services (Azure/AWS).
• Implement functional and end-to-end test automation using Playwright or Cypress.
• Drive adoption of platform standards through enablement, documentation, and pairing with consumer teams.
• Utilize AI-augmented workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a daily accelerator to remove repetitive work.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work hybridly from the Bellevue, WA office
• Production experience building or significantly extending Backstage (plugins, templates, catalog, auth providers).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React for plugin frontends.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Containerization, and GitOps (ArgoCD, Terraform).
• Experience operating platforms on Azure and/or AWS.
• Demonstrated daily use of AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in at least one additional backend language such as Go or Python.
• 2+ years of experience leading a team.
• 6+ years of overall experience in software engineering.
