TL;DR

Metrology Programmer (Aerospace): Creating and optimizing inspection programs and templates across ZEISS Inspect, PolyWorks, and GOM/ATOS systems with an accent on dimensional accuracy and standardization. Focus on building robust inspection programs, performing hands-on dimensional inspections, and validating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.

Salary: $110,160 – $151,470 per year (for Senior Specialist level)

What you will do

  • Develop, edit, and maintain metrology programs and templates across GOM Scanbox, optical systems, and CMMs.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using conventional tools to verify parts against CAD and engineering requirements.
  • Interpret and apply engineering documentation, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and GD&T specifications.
  • Prepare and validate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) according to internal and industry standards.
  • Guide and mentor technicians on program execution, workflow standards, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, throughput, and delivery targets.

Requirements

  • Lawful access to information subject to US export controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with 2D and 3D inspections using optical systems (e.g., Scanbox, Hexagon laser scanning).
  • Working knowledge of inspection and documentation procedures.
  • Ability to interpret GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Machining Shop experience.
