Salary: USD 190,000 - 220,000 yearly

What you will do

• Define and enforce data contracts across platform services, including schemas, expectations, and ownership.
• Establish enterprise-wide standards for data lineage, metadata, and semantic consistency.
• Define data-level SLIs and SLOs in collaboration with the SRE organization to ensure observability and reliability.
• Write production code to implement governance and observability mechanisms, such as schema validation and contract enforcement.
• Partner with Platform Development and Data Product teams to embed governance directly into pipelines and APIs.
• Lead the growth of the function by hiring and mentoring data platform engineers as the role scales.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience building production data or platform systems.
• Deep understanding of data governance, including contracts, lineage, metadata, and quality.
• Strong software engineering foundation in API/schema design and modular architectures.
• Proficiency with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with observability concepts and experience collaborating with SRE teams.
• Must be able to attend in-person interviews at company locations.

Nice to have

• Experience in large-scale enterprise or media environments.
• Familiarity with lakehouse architectures and ELT pipelines.
• Exposure to BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI from a platform perspective.
• Experience modernizing legacy data systems in cloud-native environments.
