AI Tools Architect / Tech Lead

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of working an average of 2 days per week from an HPE office in the United States

Salary: Annual base salary of USD 160,000–303,000 in Colorado or USD 152,000–349,000 in Texas; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Track developments in AI coding tools and agentic workflows and drive promising ideas into implementation.
• Author and maintain shared AI configuration artifacts, including organizational and team personas and prompt libraries.
• Design and deploy AI personas for use cases such as security-focused pull request reviews and test coverage analysis.
• Build, evaluate, and iterate AI-assisted code review agents and workflows.
• Prototype AI-powered tooling in Python, including automation scripts, GitHub Actions integrations, and custom agents.
• Partner with engineering teams, lead a small delivery team, and present findings and proposals to engineering leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong coding skills.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar in real engineering environments.
• Experience serving as a technical lead for small, fast-moving, high-impact teams.
• Experience driving technical change through documentation, tooling, or direct influence.
• Experience with LLM evaluation techniques or AI model benchmarking and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently in ambiguous, multi-team environments.

Nice to have

• Experience writing technical documentation, READMEs, runbooks, or similar artifacts.
• Experience building a community of practice or working with open-source communities.
