TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Systems): Leading complex engineering initiatives and designing end-to-end solutions for government data systems with an accent on root-cause analysis and high-level system synthesis. What you will do

  • Analyze requirements and design end-to-end software solutions using modern engineering principles.
  • Develop, install, and configure computer programs and supporting technologies per sponsor directions.
  • Perform rigorous root-cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Recommend cost-effective, high-performance courses of action for system optimizations.
  • Synthesize complex operational data to drive sound technical decisions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in software development and system architecture best practices.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, design, and systems analysis.
  • Mastery of modern software design techniques and the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Extensive experience in root-cause analysis for large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Proven track record of balancing operational needs with infrastructure and cost constraints.
  • Must be located in or able to work on-site in Chantilly, VA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CA-IDMS, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle DBMS.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Java, and Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience with legacy technologies such as Visual Basic, SIMULA, and IBM Rational Rose XDE.
  • Background in embedded development, Apache Struts, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with LoadRunner, usability testing, and defect tracking tools.
  • Experience supporting Federal IT modernization projects.
