Senior Applied AI & Data Scientist (AI)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut, United States; hybrid

Salary: $122,000–$207,500 per year when work is performed in Connecticut.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from problem framing and exploratory analysis through production deployment and measurement.
• Design LLM-enabled analytics and Deep Research capabilities using retrieval-augmented generation across structured and unstructured enterprise data.
• Build agentic workflows with tool use, function calling, retrieval, orchestration, and guardrails.
• Develop statistical and machine learning models for insurance, actuarial, claims, risk, and investment decisions.
• Build reusable feature pipelines, embeddings, vector search patterns, and semantic and metadata strategies.
• Productionize and operate models with monitoring, drift detection, prompt and version management, incident response, and responsible AI controls.

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
• 6+ years of experience delivering advanced analytics and machine learning solutions, including production deployment.
• 2+ years of experience delivering enterprise GenAI and LLM solutions involving RAG, agents, evaluation, and guardrails.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience using machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Snowpark or Cortex, PostgreSQL, vector search, embeddings, and knowledge retrieval.
• Experience defining model and LLM evaluation plans, partnering with engineering on APIs and pipelines, and using monitoring and CI/CD.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience, particularly life insurance, annuities, or investments, and familiarity with regulated model governance.
• Experience with legacy-to-cloud modernization, IBM DB2 extracts, or Talend.
• Experience with MLflow or equivalent, Docker, FastAPI, or Flask.
