Location: Remote (Global). This role cannot be performed in California or Colorado.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize Nitro, the core node software that powers the Arbitrum ecosystem.
• Design and optimize systems for transaction execution, state management, and network performance.
• Scale throughput and improve the efficiency of Arbitrum's core infrastructure.
• Solve complex distributed systems challenges across a large-scale blockchain network.
• Enhance reliability, observability, and security across critical infrastructure.
• Implement new capabilities for the Arbitrum stack.

Requirements

• Professional experience as a Rust engineer building production systems.
• Strong proficiency in distributed systems, infrastructure, and performance-critical applications.
• Ability to take full ownership of projects from technical design to operation.
• Interest in runtimes, execution environments, WASM, or systems programming.
• A security-focused mindset to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in code.
• Location: Must not be based in California or Colorado.

Nice to have

• Experience working with WASM.
• Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure or smart contract platforms.
• Contributions to open source projects within the Rust ecosystem.
