What you will do

• Design, build, and scale backend systems and data pipelines for the GIS and mapping platform.
• Develop and maintain Python-based pipelines to ingest and process OpenStreetMap (OSM) and other geospatial datasets.
• Model and query complex spatial data using PostgreSQL and PostGIS, including road topology and zones.
• Build and maintain APIs that expose geospatial data to other backend services and frontend applications.
• Optimize database schemas, spatial indexes, and queries for high-throughput workloads.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor other engineers to raise the overall engineering bar.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in backend software development.
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent is mandatory.
• Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• Solid understanding of data modeling and performance optimization for SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid from Tel Aviv.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Python.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, or other spatial databases.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, or event-driven architectures.
• Background in high-scale data pipelines or geospatial systems.
