What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional pod of applied researchers, forward deployment engineers (FDEs), and project leads to hit client outcome goals.
• Own the research practice's contribution to revenue through pre-sales support, engagement scoping, and delivery quality.
• Define applied research frameworks, workflows, and quality standards used across all client engagements.
• Oversee the development of benchmarking capabilities, including performance comparisons and capability gap analyses.
• Lead the strategy for sourcing, filtering, and deploying off-the-shelf datasets for client training objectives.
• Oversee the development of reproducible and portable RL environments adapted for specific client task performance.

Requirements

• 8+ years in applied ML or AI research.
• 3+ years leading research or technical delivery teams in a client-facing or revenue-generating context.
• Deep familiarity with LLM training pipelines, including fine-tuning, RLHF/RLAIF, and evaluation methodology.
• Proven track record of translating research capabilities into delivered client value and ROI.
• Experience orchestrating cross-functional pods (researchers, engineers, and project managers).
• Excellent executive communication skills for representing the research practice in client conversations.

Nice to have

• Prior experience at an AI services firm, applied research consultancy, or enterprise AI product company.
• Familiarity with data licensing, synthetic data generation, or contamination detection.
• Experience building scalable delivery infrastructure, including templates and tooling.
