Salary: $180,000 - $225,000 base

What you will do
- Design, maintain, and own authorization infrastructure, including access control frameworks and policy engines.
- Lead threat modeling and security design reviews to stress-test access control decisions.
- Define and enforce security architecture standards across engineering teams consuming authorization services.
- Develop and improve RBAC, ABAC, and policy-as-code models to ensure quality and observability.
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities, including privilege escalation and broken access control patterns.
- Mentor peers and contribute to the technical strategy and overall engineering practices.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in backend and/or distributed systems engineering (e.g., Java, Go, Node.js, TypeScript).
- Deep expertise in access control models and authorization system design.
- Hands-on experience with RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, and policy languages such as Cedar or OPA/Rego.
- Proven track record of conducting threat modeling and security design reviews for distributed systems.
- Must be based in Seattle, WA to meet the hybrid in-office expectation (at least 50% of the time monthly).
