What you will do

• Review AI-generated submission analyses, pricing outputs, and exposure summaries, treating each output as a first draft and identifying what the model missed.
• Make fast, precise underwriting decisions for commercial trucking accounts—approve, modify, decline, or escalate as needed.
• Detect inconsistencies in submission data (operation class, mileage, commodity, FMCSA safety scores, DOT history, and loss run patterns).
• Explain pricing components (tier, experience mod, territory factor, schedule mod) and build a clear rate rationale for brokers.
• Own broker relationships: track carrier appetite and competitive positioning, lead negotiations, and present coverage and pricing to insured leadership (including CFOs and fleet managers).
• Document model blind spots with account-specific context and mentor junior underwriters on risk identification and broker engagement alongside AI tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial trucking underwriting experience with a track record of writing profitable business.
• Deep technical knowledge of trucking operations, business classes, FMCSA/DOT data, commodity risk, and loss run analysis.
• Pricing fluency across tier, experience mod, territory factor, and schedule mod, with the ability to judge defensibility.
• Proven ability to build trusted broker relationships and win competitive accounts.
• Comfort with deal negotiation using a clear floor, story, and position; ability to handle executive-level questions.
• Collaborative mindset and genuine interest in working alongside AI tools and improving them through structured feedback.
