Industrial Design Intern (Consumer Products): Designing and developing physical lifestyle solutions for Shark and Ninja brands with an accent on user-centered design and functional aesthetics. Focus on translating consumer insights into 3D CAD models, high-fidelity renderings, and functional prototypes.

Location: Onsite in Needham, MA, United States. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

Salary: $17 - $44 per hour

What you will do

• Support Industrial Design and CMF leads on real product launches from brainstorming to market.
• Translate consumer insights into functional and emotionally impactful user-centered design solutions.
• Create high-fidelity renderings, sketches, and storytelling assets to influence design decisions.
• Build visual and functional prototypes to test ideas and push boundaries.
• Develop production-ready CAD files in collaboration with Engineering teams.
• Define product look and feel, including surface finishes, colors, materials, and textures (CMF).

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an industrial design bachelor’s or master’s program.
• Must be able to work full-time onsite in Needham, MA (5 days/week).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Rhino for precise product design.
• Ability to create high-quality 3D renderings using Keyshot.
• Original portfolio demonstrating a clear product development process.
• Familiarity with mechanical engineering and part design.
