What you will do

• Define and evolve the data architecture for the Submissions platform.
• Design and maintain core manuscript and submission domain data models.
• Establish domain-driven data boundaries and scalable data access/integration strategies.
• Design API-based and event-driven data flows and guide engineering implementation.
• Modernize legacy systems into modern, platform-based architectures.
• Help establish data governance, ownership, and lineage practices to support analytics and AI-enabled workflows.

Requirements

• Strong experience in data architecture and domain modelling.
• Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
• Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
• Experience designing multi-tenant data architectures.
• Strong SQL and relational database design skills.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or cloud-native databases.

Nice to have

• Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake or data lakes.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and event-driven architectures.
• API design experience (REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI).
• Experience with microservices, event streaming/messaging, and distributed systems design.
