What you will do

• Lead functional integration of hardware, software, firmware, and optical subsystems into robotic microscope platforms.
• Develop and execute iterative testing and characterization experiments from prototyping through system hardening.
• Own formal system verification activities, including protocol authoring, execution, and reporting.
• Collaborate on system-level requirements to ensure they are testable, unambiguous, and traceable.
• Perform root cause analysis on complex system failures and drive defects to resolution.
• Design test fixtures and develop automated test scripts using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Goleta, California.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience (or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years).
• Expertise in writing and executing formal system verification protocols for medical devices.
• Experience with robotics, motion control, and optical systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages for test automation (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
• Knowledge of medical device standards including IEC 60601-1, EMC compliance, and ISO 14971 risk management.
