TL;DR

Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure/Terraform): Design, implement, and manage secure Azure cloud solutions for federal IT environments with an accent on infrastructure automation, Azure networking, and Azure Virtual Desktop operations. Focus on Terraform-based IaC, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and compliance with NIST, RMF, and FedRAMP while supporting performance troubleshooting for AVD users.

Location: Hybrid, on-site 4 days/week in Washington, D.C. 20036 and 1 day telework

Clearance: U.S. citizenship required and Active Secret or higher clearance

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure (VMs, VNets, Storage, Azure AD, and PaaS services).
• Manage and optimize Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPN/ExpressRoute connectivity).
• Develop and maintain Terraform templates as the primary IaC tool.
• Support automation and operations using PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines.
• Deploy, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (host pools, session hosts, FSLogix, and Azure AD/M365 integrations) and troubleshoot user performance.
• Implement secure cloud practices and ensure compliance with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, and agency-specific controls using Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
• Active Secret or higher clearance.
• 3+ years Azure Cloud Engineering and strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure core services and architecture.
• 3+ years CI/CD pipeline experience and 3+ years using Terraform for IaC (high priority), plus 3+ years using GitLab.
• Minimum 4 years PowerShell scripting experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC four days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting DoD or federal agency cloud environments.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes (AKS).
• Azure serverless tools (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid).
• Cost optimization using Azure Cost Management / FinOps practices.
