Staff Engineer, Firmware Development (Embedded)

What you will do

• Work on-site in a hardware lab and support embedded continuous integration activities.
• Maintain, organize, and track PCBs and boards used by development and QA teams, including revisions, failures, repairs, and inventory.
• Perform board bring-up, firmware flashing, validation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Develop Python-based automation for testing, flashing, monitoring, firmware builds, deployment, validation, and regression workflows.
• Identify issues across hardware, firmware, operating systems, and interfaces, and coordinate resolution with hardware, firmware, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated release validation, lab safety, board handling, and ESD compliance.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in embedded systems operations or support.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting skills with practical automation experience.
• Hands-on experience in an embedded hardware lab, including PCB or board bring-up, flashing, and debugging.
• Experience with Linux systems, OS installation, Raspberry Pi image installation, Git, and version control.
• Basic networking and security knowledge for embedded devices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Systems Engineering, with a Master’s degree or higher preferred; good communication skills in English and Japanese.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub.
• Knowledge of UART and Ethernet communication protocols.
• Experience with Python test frameworks, including PyTest.
• Ability to understand hardware schematics and board-level components.
