TL;DR

Technical Lead (BI/Data): Leading a software engineering team to build and maintain scalable data intelligence applications with an accent on BI integrations, metadata management, and data lineage. Focus on driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and balancing hands-on development with cross-functional project leadership.

Location: Must be based in Budapest, Hungary (Hybrid role)

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers through the full development lifecycle.
  • Own the technical direction for features related to BI integrations, data analysis, and metadata.
  • Drive architectural decisions and enforce engineering best practices.
  • Partner with Product, Support, Delivery, and DevOps teams to align execution with business goals.
  • Plan and manage sprint execution, scope, and delivery commitments.
  • Balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities and technical escalation management.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Strong backend engineering background (Java, .Net, Python, or Scala).
  • Proven experience working with BI tools and data ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of data pipelines, SQL, and enterprise data architectures.
  • Experience designing scalable, production-grade systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading teams in SaaS or enterprise product environments.
  • Background in metadata management, lineage, or analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working directly with customers or supporting production systems.
