Senior Software Engineer (Simulation)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; the role references collaboration in hybrid or remote workplaces.

Base compensation: $148,000–$226,200 per year, with potential incentive pay based on company, job-level, and individual performance.

What you will do

• Develop high-fidelity, high-performance simulation scenarios for validating autonomous driving software before public-road deployment.
• Build and extend the gym environment used to train reinforcement learning models.
• Improve the developer experience for simulation and autonomy-stack users.
• Learn and integrate autonomous driving software-stack components and simulation frameworks.
• Collaborate effectively with customers and engineering organizations across a large company.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers and continuously deliver quality results in hybrid or remote workplaces.
• Comfort collaborating across large engineering organizations and interest in safe, fully electric, self-driving technology.

Nice to have

• Experience building or extending autonomous vehicle or robotics simulation.
• Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, PhysX, or other game-engine technologies.
• Experience with reinforcement learning, gym environments, or large language models.
• Modern C++ and object-oriented design expertise.
