What you will do

• Architect and optimize large-scale data platforms on Google Cloud using BigQuery as the analytical backbone.
• Design and build unified batch and streaming pipelines for high-volume, mission-critical workloads.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure repeatable, secure, and version-controlled environments.
• Implement open table formats like Apache Iceberg to enable cross-cloud and cross-engine data interoperability.
• Establish automated data quality, metadata, and lineage practices across the data estate using Dataplex and Data Catalog.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and define high engineering standards for the team.

Requirements

• 7+ years in data engineering, including 2+ years in a lead or senior role on GCP platforms.
• Advanced expertise in BigQuery architecture, including partitioning, clustering, and query tuning.
• Strong hands-on experience with Dataflow (Apache Beam), Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
• Production experience developing and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform.
• Working knowledge of Apache Iceberg and its role in cloud interoperability.
• Experience with Dataplex and Data Catalog for automated quality checks and column-level lineage.

Nice to have

• Experience leading or mentoring data engineering teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines via Cloud Build or GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid data architectures.
• Background in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services.
