Postgraduate Integration Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global Manchester, Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week; longer-term flexibility for a shift pattern of two weeks of days and one week of nights.

Starting salary: £34,000 annually, plus up to 42% shift allowance for shift work.

What you will do

• Complete a structured two-year development pathway covering fab readiness, process-area rotations, process ownership, optimisation, and specialisation.
• Rotate through Lithography, Etch, Deposition, Diffusion, and Integration, completing a Six Sigma project and building system-level process knowledge.
• Own process modules or toolsets, including Statistical Process Control reviews, recipe changes, documentation, and yield-excursion response.
• Lead initiatives involving yield improvement, cost reduction, cycle-time optimisation, and process-window expansion.
• Resolve fabrication incidents using Six Sigma, 8D, and Kepner-Tregoe; plan, execute, and analyse engineering trials across diffusion, assembly, and life-test processes.
• Drive experimental design, risk analysis, and feasibility studies while collaborating with equipment, yield, design, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Postgraduate degree (MSc, MEng, or PhD) in semiconductor or microelectronics engineering; electrical or electronic engineering focused on microelectronics, semiconductor devices, or solid-state electronics; materials science and engineering; physics; chemical engineering; or a related engineering discipline with semiconductor-relevant electives, research, or cleanroom experience.
• Understanding of semiconductor processing methods, ideally with hands-on university or industrial cleanroom experience.
• Understanding of semiconductor device principles and how electrical characteristics relate to fabrication-process variables.
• Strong data-analysis capability.
• Ability to summarise and communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineering colleagues to support decision-making and corrective actions.
• Ability to work onsite in Manchester Monday–Friday for 37.5 hours per week, with longer-term flexibility for a two-weeks-days/one-week-nights shift pattern involving 12-hour night shifts.

Nice to have

• Understanding of electrical test principles for Power MOSFET products.
• Knowledge of silicon substrate and epitaxy requirements for high-performance, high-efficiency power semiconductor devices.
