TL;DR
Principal Protocol Engineer (Web3): Serving as the primary technical author of the Token Design Standard, you will define the canonical specification for representing public equity on-chain. Focus on designing secure, compliant smart contract architectures and leading chain selection strategy to build a robust institutional tokenization ecosystem.
Location: Must be based in New York City, USA. This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in-office.
Salary: $150,000–$293,000 base pay, plus annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do
- Own the design and evolution of the Token Design Standard, including issuance, transfer restrictions, and compliance hooks.
- Author and maintain the proprietary reference implementation library for licensees.
- Define governance mechanisms for the standard to balance stewardship with ecosystem accessibility.
- Lead chain selection strategy and integration architecture for permissioned and public infrastructure.
- Represent as a technical authority in industry standards bodies and through white papers.
- Serve as technical lead on integrations with custodians and cross-chain interoperability frameworks.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years in smart contract or protocol-level development.
- Expert-level proficiency in Solidity; working knowledge of Rust is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated production deployment of security token or regulated asset contracts.
- Deep understanding of U.S. equity market lifecycle mechanics and token standards design.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; will not sponsor visas for this role.
- Proven ability to present complex technical specifications to non-technical audiences and regulators.
Nice to have
- Prior authorship or editorial contribution to a token standard (e.g., ERC).
- Familiarity with institutional infrastructure projects like DTCC or SWIFT.
- Experience with proxy voting mechanics and on-chain governance.
