Field Service Engineer (BESS)

Field Service Engineer (BESS): Managing the technical support, operation, and maintenance of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems and balance-of-plant infrastructure with an accent on safety compliance, predictive maintenance, and system reliability. Focus on resolving complex equipment failures, coordinating third-party contractors, and ensuring peak performance of energy assets across the Philippines.

Location: Must be based in the Philippines (Manila) with up to 50% travel required to project sites.

What you will do

• Lead preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance for BESS, transformers, and switchgear.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers and manage third-party service contractors.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Monitor system performance using SCADA and Energy Management Systems to resolve abnormal conditions.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including JHA and LOTO documentation.
• Collaborate with global operations and performance analysis teams to report on system KPIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Communications Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience in plant operation, maintenance, or commissioning of industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with Utility/Generation, Wind, Solar, Thermal energy, or Substation equipment.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
• Strong knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• NFPA 70E training or local safety equivalent.
• Experience with CMMS tools like Limble or Salesforce.
