TL;DR

Senior CPU Performance Architect (Hardware): Developing and driving end-to-end CPU microarchitecture specifications for high-performance computing with an accent on performance modeling, bottleneck analysis, and microarchitectural innovation. Focus on defining novel approaches for ARM/x86 architectures, ensuring scalability, and correlating performance models with RTL and silicon results.

Location: Hybrid role, must be based in the US (Austin, Phoenix, Folsom, Santa Clara, or Hillsboro).

Salary: $190,610–$361,480 USD

What you will do

  • Develop and drive end-to-end CPU microarchitecture specifications for modular and scalable designs.
  • Evaluate feasibility tradeoffs and define novel microarchitectural approaches.
  • Model CPU performance and power characteristics to identify and mitigate bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, verification, and validation engineers.
  • Debug performance miscorrelations between RTL/silicon results and performance models.
  • Craft assembly tests to evaluate and debug microarchitectural features.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 10+ years of experience or PhD with 6+ years of experience in high-performance ARM or x86 CPU performance teams.
  • 8+ years of continuous work with cycle-accurate C++ CPU performance simulators.
  • Expertise in at least one CPU domain (Branch Prediction, Fetch/Decode, Rename/Allocation, Execution, or Memory Subsystem).
  • Strong background in microarchitecture, RTL, and logic development.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex technical problems through analytical skills.
