Senior Actuary (Professional Lines)

Location: Richmond, VA, United States

Salary: $141,640–$194,755 base annually, plus 30% incentive

What you will do

• Lead pricing analyses for Commercial Professional Lines, including rate indications, pricing tools, and portfolio insights.
• Evaluate new business opportunities through research, modeling, and pricing framework development.
• Apply actuarial analyses to pricing, reserving, profitability, and acquisition due diligence decisions.
• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, and other stakeholders to align pricing strategies with risk characteristics and market dynamics.
• Present actuarial findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• Support cross-functional initiatives and develop junior staff through actuarial guidance and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or a related analytical field.
• ACAS certification required; FCAS preferred.
• 8–10 years of actuarial experience with a strong emphasis on Commercial Lines pricing.
• Strong expertise in ratemaking and reserving, plus working knowledge of data analytics.
• Experience leading projects, coordinating resources, managing priorities, and delivering against deadlines.
• US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with Professional Lines products such as E&O, D&O, or EPLI.
• FCAS certification.
