What you will do

• Design and implement robust system architectures for real-time and batch data processing.
• Master AI-orchestrated development to accelerate the delivery of data pipelines and GenAI applications.
• Develop GenAI-powered self-service tools to automate documentation and reduce routine engineering requests.
• Standardize AI-first engineering workflows to ensure high-quality, auto-validated code delivery.
• Partner with data owners to ensure reliable data ingestion for analytics and AI applications.
• Implement monitoring and CI/CD automation to track data quality and service reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Expertise in system design for batch and real-time streaming architectures.
• Proven experience with AI-first approaches and AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Gemini.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with strong ETL experience.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and Big Data technologies including Spark, Hive, Impala, and Kafka.
• Must be based in Costa Rica; role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship or relocation.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting GenAI applications, including vector databases and RAG pipelines.
• Expertise with Apache Airflow or Apache NiFi.
• Knowledge of optimizing data storage using HDFS, Parquet, Avro, Kudu, or HBase.
