Robotics Cloud Software Engineer (Azure/IoT)

Location: Frimley, United Kingdom. The role involves working across office, lab, workshop, and test-area environments with prototype robotic and autonomous vehicles, plus occasional travel to suppliers, customer sites, manufacturing locations, or test facilities.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable dashboards and user interfaces for robotics, traffic management, and telemetry.
• Build cloud-native APIs, microservices, and IoT solutions for secure machine-to-cloud communication using REST, gRPC, MQTT, Azure IoT Hub, Event Hub, Functions, and related services.
• Integrate cloud services with vehicles and robotic systems to support telemetry streaming, remote monitoring, automation, and operator-assist capabilities.
• Build real-time and batch data-ingestion pipelines using Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Data Explorer, and Cosmos DB.
• Implement software testing, observability, distributed logging, alerting, CI/CD, and reliability practices for high-availability robotics solutions.
• Contribute to architecture and technical planning, mentor junior engineers, and participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• At least four years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, web-query automation, Agile software development, and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and system-design capabilities.
• Willingness to work across office, lab, workshop, and test-area environments with robotic or autonomous vehicles.

Nice to have

• Experience or exposure to robotics, autonomous vehicles, mobile or off-highway equipment, or industrial automation.
• Experience working with electrical engineering and embedded software teams.
• Experience with telemetry systems, IoT integration, fleet-management platforms, ROS, ROS2, simulation environments, or real-time streaming data systems.
