Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite in San Francisco, California, United States

US base salary range: $196,875–$246,094 USD annually, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and ship end-to-end AI agents for pricing intelligence and freight booking compliance.
• Build secure tooling and AI infrastructure for exposing internal logistics data to LLMs.
• Develop reliable systems using agent patterns, RAG, prompt engineering, and workflow orchestration.
• Launch data-heavy, client-facing products incrementally and support frequent production releases.
• Mentor engineers and help define the team’s technical roadmap and hiring standards.
• Partner with Pricing, Sales, Operations, Design, and Engineering leadership on complex logistics problems.

Requirements

• Experience with agent patterns, RAG, and prompt engineering in production.
• Experience with workflow orchestration, such as Temporal, and reliable systems around non-deterministic AI.
• Track record of building data-heavy applications with strong user interaction.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams or systems and building unified interfaces over multiple backend systems.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems and well-tested, maintainable code.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with business partners, product managers, and engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, React, or AWS.
• Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight technology.
• Experience building internal tools or operator-facing applications.
