What you will do

• Assign and direct major news projects while maintaining communication with reporters and editors.
• Monitor analytics and competitor coverage to ensure content resonates with readers and stays ahead of the market.
• Edit stories for accuracy, clarity, style, and impact across both digital and print formats.
• Collaborate with production teams to oversee the proofing and editing of the newspaper.
• Leverage SEO strategies to build and expand the digital audience.
• Fill in for the Executive Editor to make major news decisions and ethical calls when necessary.

Requirements

• 5 years of reporting experience at a daily newspaper or similar organization.
• 5 years of management experience in a newsroom environment.
• Deep grounding in key NYC issues and local news landscape.
• Proficiency with content management systems, analytics tools, and AP style.
• Strong understanding of fair use, copyright laws, and media ethics.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
