TL;DR

Technology Optimisation Manager (AI/Automation): Help teams adopt modern engineering approaches and emerging technologies to improve delivery outcomes, with an accent on AI and automation, developer productivity, platform and tooling adoption, and secure SDLC/CI/CD practices. Focus on running safe experiments and pilots, defining KPIs, and translating evidence into measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and reliability.

Location: London

Salary: €121,600 - €202,300 (base pay range if performed in NLD Amsterdam, Radarweg)

What you will do

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering effectiveness through modern practices, tooling, and emerging technologies.
  • Advise and coach squads, engineering leads, and managers on adopting AI, automation, developer productivity, and platform capabilities.
  • Partner with teams to understand delivery pain points and remove friction in day-to-day engineering.
  • Design and run pilots, proofs of concept, workshops, and demos to test feasibility, manage risk, and demonstrate value.
  • Translate trends and learning into reusable guidance, recommendations, and measurable outcomes using KPIs.
  • Support consistent secure delivery practices (secure SDLC and CI/CD) aligned to enterprise standards.

Requirements

  • Experience in software engineering, architecture, platform engineering, technical enablement, or a closely related area.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technologies (e.g., AI and automation) and how to assess where they add value in real engineering environments.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating, piloting, or implementing tools, workflows, or practices that improve developer experience, software quality, or delivery speed.
  • Understanding of modern delivery practices including secure software delivery lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD, automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to influence and coach teams without direct authority using evidence, collaboration, and practical experimentation.
  • Clear communication skills to explain options and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
