TL;DR
Research Analyst - Oil Supply (Python/Data Analytics): Building forecasts, data products, pipelines, and analytical tools for oil market research with an accent on quantitative analysis, data quality, and technical infrastructure. Focus on refactoring legacy Python and VBA workflows, automating data processes, and developing scalable tools for oil supply and price forecasting.
Location: Mexico City, Mexico; hybrid work with physical office presence at least 2 days per week. The role requires early-morning work to collaborate with European time zones.

What you will do
- Analyse oil assets, markets, and industry developments to produce short- and long-term forecasts.
- Gather, validate, and interpret industry data for research and analytical products.
- Build relationships with clients and industry participants to strengthen market understanding.
- Produce written analysis and contribute to client-facing presentations and research outputs.
- Stabilise, refactor, document, and improve legacy Python- and VBA-based data and modelling workflows.
- Design scalable data pipelines, tools, services, and forecasting functionality for Oil Supply and Macro Oils products.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Advanced Python skills for developing, debugging, maintaining, and improving production-quality analytical code.
- Experience with large datasets, data-driven solutions, data management, data quality, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Excel, including complex analytical models and data workflows.
- Clear communication of technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; hybrid office presence in Mexico City at least 2 days per week.
Nice to have
- Experience with machine learning, AI tools, and data science techniques.
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience maintaining or migrating legacy systems, including VBA processes.
- Knowledge of oil, energy, or broader commodity markets.
- Experience with forecasting models or decision-support tools.
