What you will do

• Incubate an RKE-focused team and support the hirify.global Data Platform - On Premise offering.
• Design and implement enhancements for cluster lifecycle (provisioning, upgrades, backup/restore), CNI networking, and CSI storage integration.
• Introduce best practices and tooling to debug and troubleshoot deployments, upgrades, and ongoing operational problems.
• Customize and extend RKE using Kubernetes APIs & CRDs, controllers & operators, and Rancher APIs.
• Define install/upgrade paths and compatibility strategies for Kubernetes and Longhorn.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Scale Testing to improve platform quality standards and influence upstream adoption strategy.

Requirements

• Location: Remote in the Czech Republic
• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Go.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes core components (API server, scheduler, control plane, etcd).
• Experience designing Kubernetes APIs, CRDs, and controllers with backward compatibility in mind.
• CSI-level understanding of Kubernetes storage; Longhorn development/evolution experience is highly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across Kubernetes, networking, and storage.

Nice to have

• Experience building PaaS and SaaS products.
• Experience working in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community.
