Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Madrid, Spain; office-first work with on-site attendance several days a week in the Barcelona or Madrid office. Remote work is supported when it makes sense, and the hiring process is fully remote.

Salary: €92,400–€104,400 annual.

What you will do

• Lead and grow engineering teams while staying close to the codebase and product domain.
• Learn the customer journey and help shape the team roadmap and priorities.
• Review RFCs, guide technical decisions, and improve engineering practices.
• Hire engineers and run regular 1:1s focused on development and well-being.
• Coordinate initiatives across engineering teams and shared platform foundations.
• Lead the transition to AI-native product development through experimentation, evaluation, and safe delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years as a full-stack engineer or in a similar role.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams and experience managing and developing people.
• Experience hiring engineers and working across teams.
• Strong API design and integration experience, including REST or GraphQL.
• Production experience with scalability, performance, and software quality constraints.
• Experience contributing to AI-powered features or workflows released to production, including evaluation, data grounding, human oversight, and awareness of LLM limitations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, or documentation.
