What you will do
- Build and own agent harnesses and testing infrastructure, including tool design, prompt engineering, context management, and output evaluation for functional and load testing.
- Apply AI-native engineering practices by creating reusable skills, running looped/scheduled agents, building MCP tools, and automating operational work (deploys, log triage, JIRA updates).
- Architect Temporal-based workflows and services to speed up bug/regression detection in CI/CD using async Python, workflow determinism constraints, and typed dataclass-driven design.
- Develop the telemetry and evaluation layer to measure agent behavior, including non-trivial BigQuery SQL and reasoning about mobile telemetry and timestamps.
- Partner across teams to translate product and engineering requirements into scalable platform solutions and advocate for availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.
- Mentor engineers and help drive multi-quarter technical direction for platform and infrastructure capabilities.
Requirements
- 9+ years of software development experience (or 8+ with a Master’s, or 5+ with a PhD) and a technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating backend services or distributed systems at significant scale, including on-call participation and incident response.
- Proven ability to set technical vision and lead complex cross-functional initiatives over multiple quarters.
- Strong system design foundation (APIs, data models, storage, pub/sub, queues, workflow orchestration) plus performance/latency optimization.
- Deep observability experience (metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards) and using data to debug and harden large-scale systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, DS, ML, Design, and other engineering teams; strong communication and mentoring skills.
