TL;DR

Senior Data Engineer (Spark/GCP): Designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and mappings for banking and payments systems with an accent on technical analysis of financial data flows. Focus on building distributed system architectures, optimizing Spark-Scala pipelines on GCP, and ensuring high-quality data integration within enterprise banking environments.

Location: Fully Remote within Bulgaria

What you will do

  • Perform technical analysis and document complex data flows and system architectures for payments processing environments.
  • Create and maintain data mappings between source and target systems in distributed Big Data environments.
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines using Spark-Scala and SQL on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Model and implement Dataform transformations and integrate them into existing cloud architectures.
  • Manage and monitor batch processes via automation tools such as UC4.
  • Execute independent testing and quality assurance activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Business Analyst, ideally within a major bank.
  • Extensive expertise in payments and transaction processing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Spark-Scala, SQL, and Big Data environments (Hadoop).
  • Solid knowledge of GCP and Dataform.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Proven experience working in agile project environments and collaborating across IT departments.

Nice to have

  • Basic knowledge of German.
  • Experience with automation tools such as UC4.
