Director of Developer Events (Developer Marketing)

Location: In-office in Austin, New York, or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $198,000–$273,000 annual salary for Bay Area hires; $189,000–$260,000 annual salary for NYC hires. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Define and execute the Developer Platform events portfolio, including flagship events, owned experiences, sponsored events, executive dinners, pop-ups, and field activations.
• Set the creative direction for event design, branding, storytelling, booth experiences, keynote content, speaker preparation, and attendee details.
• Drive developer acquisition, product adoption, and community growth by defining relevant metrics and evaluating event performance.
• Build and manage a global calendar of 50+ events per year and allocate a significant budget using ROI frameworks.
• Lead cross-functional execution with Developer Relations, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Communications.
• Manage agencies and vendors while building and leading a lean team of event professionals and developing new formats such as hackathons, build-alongs, AI showcases, roundtables, and digital experiences.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in events, experiential marketing, or developer marketing, including at least 5 years managing teams and budgets.
• Deep experience engaging developer or technical audiences and understanding what resonates with engineers and builders.
• Strong creative vision and a portfolio of event experiences demonstrating attention to design, content, and execution details.
• Experience building business cases, connecting event investments to pipeline and developer acquisition metrics, and managing budgets of $2M+.
• Cross-functional leadership experience across Product, Sales, Developer Relations, and Communications.
• Experience scaling an events function, working with product-led growth motions, and producing hybrid or digital-first events.
