Senior Scientific Data Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead the Scientific Data Engineering team and architect production-ready data solutions.
• Work with product managers and solution architects to translate business and data objectives into customer-focused implementations.
• Build data models, prototypes, integrations, schemas, and parsers for pre-clinical data from lab instruments, manufacturing, CROs, CDMOs, ELNs, and LIMS.
• Develop reusable Python libraries, high-quality data pipelines, data applications, reports, and dashboards using Python, React, Streamlit, and Jupyter.
• Ensure data and product quality through unit tests, integration tests, utility functions, and quality gates.
• Lead process and technology improvements, coordinate Agile delivery, remove blockers, and mentor junior scientific data engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years building data products as a data engineer or in a similar field.
• 8+ years working with Python and SQL with a focus on data.
• Experience leading projects, managing requirements, timelines, delivery milestones, and customer-focused implementations.
• Ability to collaborate with product managers, project managers, business analysts, data architects, and ML engineers.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, technical understanding, and ownership of project delivery.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with React or Streamlit for data plotting and dashboards.
• Experience working with pre-clinical data and lab scientists.
