Chassis Software Development Lead (Automotive)

TL;DR

Chassis Software Development Lead (Automotive Controls): Leading the development of new chassis features and technologies using Design First principles to move concepts to TRL 6 with an accent on control system foundations and proof of concept validation. Focus on utilizing MATLAB/Simulink and vehicle dynamics simulation to enable early, confident design decisions and reduce engineering rework.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan (at least 3 days a week in office)

What you will do

• Lead the development of new chassis features and technologies using Design First principles.
• Plan project execution for manpower, tools, and test beds through the proof of concept phase.
• Manage the handoff of chassis features to production teams, including documentation and calibration strategies.
• Assess current Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and execute plans to achieve TRL level 6.
• Use low-fidelity models and simulation to identify constraints, operating envelopes, and failure modes early in development.
• Validate requirements and safety considerations through increasing model fidelity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in controls, diagnostics, or related development, testing, or validation.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• Strong engineering design knowledge in automotive suspension, braking, steering, or driveline systems.
• Hands-on experience developing MATLAB/Simulink models and understanding vehicle dynamics.
• Must be based in the US; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model in Milford, Michigan.

Nice to have

• MS in Engineering.
• Design release engineering experience.
• Expert capability with vehicle modeling tools such as CarSim or CarMaker.
• DFSS Certification.
