Senior Software Engineer, Database (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Database): Developing and evolving a scalable database tooling platform for millions of players with an accent on self-service deployment and cloud migration. Focus on building highly scalable API tools, optimizing Redis and Vitess clusters, and reducing operational overhead for internal game studio teams.

Location: Onsite in Dublin, Ireland (4 days per week)

What you will do

• Develop and evolve the database tooling platform and self-serve model for internal teams.
• Transition database services to cloud technologies to minimize operational overhead.
• Drive the architecture of software and tooling to ensure maximum reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure their database technology requirements are met.
• Provide mentorship to other engineers on database tooling development and integration.
• Own features and components, reviewing designs and code to ensure maintainability.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in critical production service environments.
• Excellent development skills in Python.
• Proven experience designing and building tooling and APIs for other engineers.
• Experience in database design, including MySQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of networking protocols such as TCP, HTTP, and TLS.

Nice to have

• Software engineering experience with Golang.
• Experience building backend services using RESTful APIs and Linux open-source technologies.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and agile methodologies.
• Experience with large-scale services supporting millions of concurrent users.
