What you will do

• Develop and maintain core banking services using Java and microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to design scalable software solutions.
• Contribute actively to the codebase while championing clean code and engineering best practices.
• Manage technical debt effectively to ensure long-term system stability and performance.
• Participate in both technical and business-level discussions to drive project delivery.
• Leverage Google Cloud Platform to build and deploy modern, cloud-native applications.

Requirements

• Deep experience in object-oriented backend development, ideally with Java.
• Strong understanding of software fundamentals including data types, threading, and memory management.
• Proven ability to promote agile practices and champion high-quality engineering standards.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in technical leadership or a desire to grow into it.
• Comfortable operating in both technical and business-focused environments.
• Must be able to work from the Manchester site at least 40% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and test automation.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Familiarity with SpringBoot, Apache Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Previous experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
