Quality Engineer (Engineering)

TL;DR

Quality Engineer (Engineering): Driving quality excellence across operational and project activities for fusion energy development with an accent on technical governance, process improvement, and supplier surveillance. Focus on managing Quality Management Systems, conducting root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance within a highly regulated industrial environment.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to the UK (Culham or Rotherham). Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week.

Salary: £57,117 (inclusive of Specialist Allowance).

What you will do

• Develop and manage Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes to ensure products and services meet requirements.
• Manage project quality activities and develop quality plans aligned with the project delivery lifecycle.
• Lead quality assurance activity both on and offsite at suppliers, including non-conformance investigation and root cause analysis.
• Deliver quality training programmes to promote a positive quality culture across the organisation.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote quality excellence throughout the supply chain.
• Conduct surveillance and inspections at UK and international supplier sites.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline.
• Experience managing quality assurance and control activities within a highly regulated industrial engineering setting.
• Extensive knowledge of Quality Methods, including root cause analysis, control plans, FMEA, and FTA.
• Experience auditing internal processes and external suppliers.
• Knowledge of ISO9001 based quality management systems and awareness of ISO14001 and ISO45001.
• Must be able to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Experience of inspection and test activities, including NDT methods.
• Project management experience, including lean and 6 sigma practices.
