Salary: $130,000 – $225,000 base

What you will do

• Build end-to-end data pipelines integrating internal/external apps, 3P vendors, and SaaS systems.
• Develop transformations across OLTP, OLAP, and S3 infrastructure.
• Create backend Python services and APIs to expose platform data to internal consumers and downstream workflows.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks to ensure system reliability.
• Drive data architecture decisions to ensure business agility and scalability.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience working on data infrastructure or backend systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python (clean, testable code) and complex SQL (window functions, CTEs, optimization).
• Experience designing and shipping reliable cross-system ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Ability to interpret complex data and act as a domain expert on the data handled.
• Collaborative mindset for working with product, frontend, analytics, and research teams.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in New York City.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt for SQL-native transformation layers.
• Familiarity with Airflow, Prefect, or other orchestration frameworks.
• Exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, IAM, KMS, MWAA, and ECS/EKS.
• Background in insurtech, proptech, or other highly regulated domains.
• Strong opinions on data modeling, including star schema, OBT, and normalization tradeoffs.
