What you will do

• Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of new features using Python.
• Lead strategic architectural decisions and optimize applications for performance and scalability.
• Implement rigorous testing (unit, integration, performance) to ensure fault tolerance and reliability.
• Refactor code and upgrade technologies to enhance current application performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, GTM, and Product teams in an agile environment.
• Utilize modern AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend experience with deep expertise in Python.
• Strong experience building distributed, asynchronous, event-driven systems using RabbitMQ, Kafka, or SQS.
• Proven track record of delivering end-to-end solutions within an AWS environment.
• Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
• Must be based in the USA (NYC or Boston preferred) and able to travel for quarterly in-person collaboration.
• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Nice to have

• Experience with telephony, VoIP, or SIP.
• Experience working with websockets.
• Background in building AI-driven features.
