What you will do

• Design line and underground cable circuits, substation layouts, and protection and control schemes.
• Create detailed specifications for plant and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
• Conduct load flow studies, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, and earthing designs in accordance with BS 7430.
• Manage design submissions and approval processes with DNOs and IDNOs, ensuring compliance with G81, G99, and ENA standards.
• Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, single-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
• Support project managers with tenders, cost estimates, and site assessments during the construction phase.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience.
• Proven experience in ICP/IDNO/DNO design delivering solutions under stringent timelines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with power system software such as VisNet Connect.
• Solid understanding of IEC/BS standards, ENA Recommendations, and CDM regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects from tender phase through to final design approval.

Nice to have

• Experience with Windebut software.
• Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) membership.
