TL;DR

Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin): Designing and developing scalable server-side systems for financial technology products with an accent on high-performance APIs, data processing, and distributed architectures. Location: Hybrid (Remote and In Person) in Warsaw, Poland

What you will do

  • Design and implement scalable backend architecture, services, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs for core financial products.
  • Develop high-quality, maintainable server-side code focusing on performance, reliability, and security.
  • Manage and optimize relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend, product, QA, and DevOps to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Refactor legacy code and adopt engineering best practices to ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer building scalable server-side applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
  • Solid experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Proven experience in domain ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
  • Experience with fintech, payment processing systems, and PCI DSS compliance.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with message queues like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud platforms.
  • Experience with AI tools and a desire to apply them in daily workflows.
