What you will do

• Perform engineering design for electric substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment control systems.
• Specify substation equipment including bus, ground mats, circuit breakers, transformers, and relay panels.
• Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA based on industry standards and regulations.
• Analyze system ratings and provide technical data to reporting agencies such as SPP, NERC, and FERC.
• Develop detailed project scopes and cost estimates for multi-year budget planning.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, failure analysis, and commissioning of equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Knowledge of electric power engineering, including schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams.
• Ability to develop elementary drawings, relay logic, and settings for system protection.
• Understanding of Generation, Transmission, and Distribution system relays and protection schemes.
• Must be based in or able to work in Topeka, KS (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Direct utility experience with electric substation and transmission line equipment.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
