TL;DR
AI/ML Engineer (Edtech): Developing an AI teacher that listens, speaks, and adapts to children with an accent on agent reliability, learner adaptation, and evaluation systems. Focus on building end-to-end AI features, designing educational quality metrics, and implementing low-latency inference for real-world products.
Location: Onsite in San Francisco, CA. Must have US work authorization (sponsorship available for those already authorized).
Salary: $155,000 – $205,000 + Equity

What you will do
- Own AI systems and features end-to-end, from identifying product opportunities to shipping production improvements used by children worldwide.
- Collaborate with learning experts to build infrastructure measuring educational quality, engagement, safety, and latency.
- Design and improve the agent harness that powers the tutoring experience and determines how the tutor adapts to each child.
- Develop learner profiling systems to build models of child strengths, gaps, pace, and engagement patterns.
- Create feedback loops and data flywheels to continuously improve product quality through usage, evaluation, and experimentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building AI products in an engineering or research role.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to write clean, maintainable Python code.
- Experience building and operating evaluation or measurement systems (e.g., AI evals).
- Ability to read recent ML papers and implement components of the stack.
- Proficiency in applied mathematics and linear algebra to contribute to research discussions.
- Must be based in San Francisco, CA for in-person collaboration.

- Strong product intuition regarding what is worth measuring.
- Depth in low-latency inference at scale.
- Experience with model training and familiarity with speech systems.
