Developer Experience Engineer (AI)

TL;DR

Developer Experience Engineer (AI): Designing and optimizing the end-to-end developer journey for the FLUX platform with an accent on API contracts, SDKs, and agentic workflows. Focus on reducing friction for human and AI developers, building robust MCP servers, and establishing industry-leading API standards.

Location: Must join in Freiburg (Germany) or San Francisco (USA) at least 2 days a week, or work remotely with a monthly in-person week (travel costs covered)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end DevExp as a product surface, including API contracts, dashboards, and SDKs.
• Design and implement the platform's agentic capabilities, including MCP servers and machine-readable surfaces.
• Collaborate with platform and product engineering to refine API revisions and onboarding flows.
• Develop and maintain a portfolio of SDKs in Python and TypeScript.
• Optimize the developer funnel from signup to production-ready calls.
• Define and defend standards for versioning, error formats, and idempotency.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building software, specifically developer-facing products such as SDKs and APIs.
• Full-stack proficiency with TypeScript, React, and Next on the frontend, and Python on the backend (ideally Go or Rust).
• Strong expertise in API design, including async job shapes and breaking change policies.
• Fluency in the current agent stack, including MCP and tool use.
• Proven track record of shipping products used by external developers.
• Ability to commit to the required in-person presence (hybrid in Freiburg/SF or monthly remote travel).

Nice to have

• Experience at a top-tier developer platform like Stripe, Vercel, or Anthropic.
• Contributions to MCP servers used by real users.
• Experience with high-latency, async media-generation APIs.
• Publicly available OSS or technical write-ups demonstrating technical taste.
