TL;DR

Power and Actuation Architect (Electrical Engineering/Robotics): Architecting and implementing power distribution and actuation electrical hardware for advanced robotic platforms with an accent on energy delivery, conversion, and board-level realization. Focus on designing power electronics, managing power budgets, and leading PCB-based hardware development from schematic capture through validation.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. Relocation benefits may be available.

What you will do

  • Define and own power and actuation electrical architectures for advanced robotics platforms, including voltage domains and power paths.
  • Architect, design, and validate power electronics such as AC-DC/DC-DC conversion and battery interfaces.
  • Lead PCB-based hardware design from schematic capture through layout collaboration and board bring-up.
  • Develop power budgets, load analysis, and derating strategies to ensure system-level alignment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate PCB assemblies into robotic enclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, EMC, and internal engineering guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in power distribution design, power electronics, and PCB-based electrical hardware development.
  • Strong understanding of power conversion topologies, analog/digital circuits, and PCB best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD.
  • Must be based in or able to report full-time to Warren, Michigan.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing power hardware for robotics, automation, or industrial systems.
  • Experience with high-current, high-power, or battery-powered systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as UL, CE, or ISO 13849.
  • Experience with simulation tools like SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink.
